Eligibility

HYS accepts students through grade 12 only. There are certain age requirements for entrance into each of our programs. The table below outlines age eligibility. In order to ensure fairness we do not make exceptions to age eligibility.

Group	You Must Be This Age to Join in the year you are auditioning/registering
Youth Symphony I (YSI)	13 years old before January 1st
Youth Symphony II (YSII)	12 years old before January 1st
Concert Orchestra (CO)	10 years old before January 1st
Concert String Orchestra (CSO)	8 years old before August 1st
String Orchestra Ensemble (SOE)	8 years old before August 1st
Preparatory Strings (PS)	8 years old before August 1st
Beginning Strings (BS)	8 years old before August 1st
