Christopher Cabrera is Associate Principal Timpanist and Section Percussionist with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. Born and raised in San Francisco, Christopher began his percussion studies in public school during the 3rd grade; a product of the San Francisco Symphony’s AIM program. After graduating from Ruth Asawa’s San Francisco School of the Arts (’11), he spent 6 years in northeast Ohio receiving a Bachelors of Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and a Masters of Music from Cleveland Institute of Music. A student of the late Richard Weiner, Christopher received the Bruce Collie Award For Percussion Excellence upon graduating from CIM.
